Hamlet: Mad or Just an Act?

Okay, so we know that Hamlet tells Horatio and the two guards that he is going to pretend to be mad or insane; however, as the play unfolds, it is sometimes tough to tell if he is just a very good actor or if he is truly becoming mad. What do you think? Is it an elaborate act, or is he actually losing his mind? Explain your opinion.

After Christmas Break

After we return from break, we will start our Hamlet unit. Unlike our study of Macbeth, I will distribute a packet to each of you at the beginning of the unit. As we study the play, we will work on different parts of the packet. There will be pages devoted to literary elements, such as characterization, setting, theme, conflict, symbolism, etc. There will also be pages which focus on literary skills, such as using context clues, reading actively, paraphrasing, making inferences, etc. I am so excited that I am getting to study Hamlet with you guys! Have a fantastic break!
